Queen Studio Experience
Legendary Freddie Mercury, the singer of the world-famous band Queen, lived in Montreux for several years. In fact, he recorded his last album “Made in Heaven” in his studio in the city. Nowadays, there is a Queen exhibition on the second floor of Casino Barriere de Montreux. There you will find original items, costumes and instruments of the band.

The statue of Freddie Mercury
To honour this truly unique artist, city has installed his statue on Pl. du Marche. You can easily find it just by walking along the lake from the Casino towards the city centre or the other way around.

Fairmont Le Montreux Palace is a beautiful 5-star hotel, located right on the shores of the lake. Among its famous guests were Ella Fitzgerald, Ray Charles, Vladimir Nabokov, Carlos Santana, Aretha Franklin and list goes on and on. Unsurprisingly, some of them fall involve with it forever! For instance, Vladimir Nabokov, who moved to the hotel with his wife after the Russian Revolution, settled there permanently. Vevey
While visiting Montreux Riviera, you shouldn’t miss Vevey. It is a charming small town just a few minutes away from Montreux. It has many interesting museums, including Alimentarium, Swiss Museum of Game and Swiss Camera Museum. Above all, it is a town where Charlie Chaplin lived for 25 years.

Surely, Montreux Riviera is also famous with its steep slopes and terraces of vineyards of Lavaux. In fact, they have been registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2007. It is also one of the best-known wine-producing regions in Switzerland. The history of which started in the 11th century when monks started cultivating the vines on the tiny terraces between the stones. The region includes over 23 communities and it is a great place to visit for all wine lovers.
