    ‘Tis the season to get jolly and embrace the festive spirit with a cheeky twist! Celebrate the festive season with a classic favourite – mulled wine. This heartwarming beverage, also known as Glühwein, is a staple at Christmas markets. Our easy-to-follow recipe will guide you through creating this aromatic and delicious winter drink at home.

    Ingredients (4 small cups):

    • Red wine (For best results, we recommend using Chianti. However, any dry red wine can be used) – 1 bottle;
    • Clementines – 2 pcs;
    • Lemon – 1/2 pcs;
    • Lime – 1/2 pcs;
    • Caster Sugar – 100 g;
    • Whole cloves – 3 pcs;
    • Cinnamon stick – 1/2 pcs;
    • Bay leaves – 2 pcs;
    • Nutmeg (grated) – 1/3 tsp;
    • Vanilla pod – 1/2 pcs;
    • Star anise – 1 pcs;

    COOKING METHOD:

    1. Start by washing the fruits thoroughly. Peel big pieces from the lemon, lime, and clementines.
    2. Combine the fruit peels, sugar, cloves, cinnamon, bay leaves, nutmeg, and juice from the clementines in a large saucepan (cooking pot).
    3. Cut the vanilla pod lengthways and add it to the saucepan.
    4. Over medium heat, add enough red wine to cover the sugar. Stir until the sugar dissolves completely.
    5. Bring the mixture to a boil until it forms a thick syrup.
    6. Reduce the heat, add the star anise and the rest of the wine. Heat gently for 5-7 minutes, avoiding boiling.
    7. Serve in heatproof glasses, and enjoy!
